Happening this Weekend: Carolina Beach Wing Crawl expands to 11 restaurants

CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WWAY) — Happening this weekend, The Island Men are hosting their second annual Carolina Beach Wing Crawl, giving locals and visitors a chance to sample wings from area restaurants, enjoy drink specials, and support local charities.

The event, which started last year with six participating restaurants and about 150 attendees, has nearly doubled in size. This year, 11 restaurants are joining the crawl, including Hurricane Alleys, Buzz’s, Sunny Daze, Salty’s, CBGB, The Dive, Island Burgers and Bites, Tap Tea Bar, HopLite, Riko’s, and Seaworthy.

Participants will receive punch cards at The Tropical between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m., which they can use to visit each restaurant and try two wings per location. The restaurants determine the flavor of the wings. Attendees can also vote for their favorite for a People’s Choice Award, while a panel of five judges scores entries on factors like crispiness and sauce flavor.

Steve Palumbo of The Island Men said the wing crawl combines fun with giving back.

“We have events across the year raising money for charities on the island that help people going through a hard time or just needing a little extra help,” Palumbo said.

Tickets are available in advance for $15, and more information can be found on The Island Men’s website or Facebook page.
