Chadbourn to start advertisement for new town manager after heated emergency meeting
CHARBOURN, NC (WWAY-TV) – The town of Chadbourn is looking for a new manager and attorney after a heated emergency meeting this weekend.
Mayor Pro Tem Tony Jordan called the meeting without consulting the town manager or mayor. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the status of a town employee. WWAY could not be confirm who the meeting was about.
Shannon Britt, the mayor’s wife, posted about the meeting on Facebook and mentioned police chief, Ken Elliot.
The meeting led to the resignation of the town’s attorney and the town manager announced his retirement for Mar. 31.
Mayor Philip Britt told WWAY they will work on obtaining a new attorney and begin advertising an application for a new town manager. He said this process will begin immediately.
“I will be speaking with our town manager about the process, our current town manager and will try to get with the council and see and have the council instruct him on how they want him to move forward,” said Britt.
Jordan told WWAY he does not want to make a statement at this time. WWAY also reached out to Elliot who also did not want to share a statement regarding the meeting.
