The 250th anniversary of the Battle at Moores Creek Bridge wraps up with one big special event
PENDER COUNTY, NC (WWAY)– History has come alive in Pender County.
Saturday was the last day of the weeklong events to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the Battle at Moores Creek Bridge. At the park, hundreds of guests came to see music, musket shootings, and special re-enactments, like how to blacksmith.
Rusty Brewer, who portrayed a doctor, announced that he was retiring after being a volunteer at the park for over 20 years.
His message? He hopes that people learned a thing or two.
“I want to say to the kids, that I hope they learned something. That they can take what I said and go on in life with it. I really just want to thank life that I was able to do this,” said Brewer.
Diana Gabaldon, the author of “Outlander”, also appeared to help celebrate the commemoration, with a special book signing at The Lucas Farm.
