North Carolina lawmakers react to Iranian strikes as security increased at several eastern NC military bases

NORTH CAROLINA (WWAY) – Several North Carolina lawmakers are speaking out following the US’ strikes against Israel.

In a post made on X on Saturday, Senator Thom Tillis stated that he expects all members of Congress to be briefed on Operation Epic Fury soon and determine whether any further military action requires congressional authorization.

On Sunday, Governor Josh Stein honored the 3 Americans killed in a post on X, saying, “I join all of North Carolina in mourning the three American service members who died in the Iran attacks…..May the memories of these heroes be a blessing.”

On Saturday, U.S. Representative David Rouzer made a post saying Operation Epic Fury demonstrates America’s strength and resolve and “under President Trump’s leadership, we will continue to defend our citizens, protect our allies, and advance peace through strength in the Middle East and beyond.”

Additionally, several military bases in eastern North Carolina have increased security at their entry gates following the attacks.

Those bases include Camp Lejeune, Cherry Point, and New River.
