Bad luck for North Brunswick leads to 2-0 win for New Hanover as CCC play begins

LELAND, N.C. (WWAY) — Things did not go the way of the home side as New Hanover picked up a 2-0 road win against North Brunswick on Tuesday as Carolina Coast Conference play began.
The Scorpions had runners in scoring position for most innings, only to have several baserunning issues. That includes a player tripping as he rounded third, getting thrown out at second base after a pick off throw to first was off the mark as well as an interference call that ended the 4th inning that otherwise would have tied the game at one.
New Hanover got a much needed insurance run in the 7th as Logan Pearce managed to drive in Colton Creech after a possible double play went off the glove of the shortstop.
“It was really good,” Creech said. “I’m from this area, so this one means more to me. Beat it out at first, really good. Feels great. We’re just up from here. Got to forget about last week. Just keep going.14-0.”
