Extremely late tally gives Laney 2-1 win over Topsail

HAMPSTEAD, N.C. (WWAY) — It took as long as it possibly could, but Laney girls soccer prevailed for a 2-1 road win against Carolina Coast leader Topsail on Monday.
After a scoreless opening half, the Pirates’ Riley Needham broke the ice just two minutes after the break. That was followed by an equalizer from Lucy Lauber of the Bucs with 22 minutes left on the clock.
The game then went into a lightning delay immediately after the second goal. Once they returned, Laney freshman Presley Ormsby netted the game-winner with just ten seconds remaining.
