Roy Cooper visits Wilmington as part of his “Make Stuff Cost Less” tour

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY)– Former Governor Roy Cooper stopped in Wilmington on Thursday, as part of his–“Make Stuff Cost Less”–tour.

The Democratic U.S. Senate candidate was applauded as he entered into a packed room at Station No. 2 at 602 South Fifth Avenue.

He stood in front of the crowd, promising to lower cost in stuff like foo, childcare products, and other essential items, something that he thinks his opponent Michael Whatley won’t do.

“I think it shows how out of touch Michael Whatley is, to continue to say prices are down, ask any of the people that I have been talking to people every day. They have been hit with higher groceries, higher utilities bill, and higher rent.”

Cooper also said he wants to lower the cost of childcare and make it more accessible for parents who choose to work. He says he wants to expand the Child Care and Dependent Tax Credit, grow and support the childcare workforce, cut unnecessary red tape that keeps childcare facilities expensive, and encourage employers to help employees with childcare.

Republican Michael Whatley is also in the race for the U.S. Senate Seat.
