Nifty Thrifty Thrift Shop opens second location in Wilmington

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WWAY) — A local thrift store celebrated the grand opening of its second location Friday in Wilmington.

Nifty Thrifty Thrift Shop opened its new storefront at 1614 Market St. with a ribbon-cutting ceremony earlier in the day. The family-owned business offers a pay-per-pound pricing model for clothing items sold from bins.

Customers can purchase clothing for $2 per pound on weekdays and $1 per pound on weekends, according to the store.

Owner Mykayla Lienhop said the expansion comes at a time of strong community support.

“You know we decided that it would be a good time to do it, this location popped up, it’s a perfect location and we were just super excited to get it started and underway and I think it’s been very successful so far,” Lienhop said.

The thrift shop is also partnering with the Good Shepherd Center to support people experiencing homelessness and donated $1,500 during Friday’s grand opening event.

Customers can also visit the store’s original location at 3722 Carolina Beach Road.
