What’s happening across the Cape Fear this weekend

Wilmington, NC (WWAY) — With the warm weather this weekend, it’s the perfect time to get out, have a few drinks, take a stroll through the historic city, or hit the beach to catch a striking performance.

On Friday ILM Areospace Foundation will be hosting Wings Over Carolina Beach at the Carolina Beach Boardwalk. The free community event invites families, aviation enthusiasts, and visitors to witness high-energy aerial performances right over the shoreline. The first event starts at 3 p.m. on Friday, and the second starts at 2 p.m. on Saturday.

Also happening Saturday, the Bellamy Mansion Museum will be hosting a painting and preservation event with Jeremy Gunn of JBG Services at 10:30 a.m. Participants can talk and tour as they are taken through the painting process and techniques and materials used to keep the historic building looking primed and pristine.

Registration is $20 per person, and all proceeds benefit the Bellamy Mansion Museum and Historic Wilmington Foundation.

Greenfield Lake Yacht Club invites the public to their grand closing weekend. The current building at 1756 Carolina Beach Road will be demolished as part of an NCDOT highway project, and the bar is inviting the community to come out and help finish up their drink supply, tune in for some live tunes, and share some memories at the current location before they make the move to their new location at 127 Princess Street downtown. The first day of the event is happening Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m., and the second will be Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m.

Whether you’re looking for a place to reminisce, get a quick history lesson, or enjoy a stunning performance at the beach, there are plenty of fun activities for you and the whole family to get involved in this weekend.
