Teen suffers life-threatening injuries after being struck by vehicle in Wilmington

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WWAY) — A teenager is in critical condition at Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center on 17th Street in Wilmington after being struck by a vehicle early Saturday morning, according to the Wilmington Police Department.
A department spokesperson said two teenagers were crossing near Oleander Drive and Pine Grove Drive around 5 a.m. when one of them was hit by a small SUV. The driver stayed at the scene and was not impaired, authorities said.
The westbound lane of Oleander Drive was shut down for about two hours but has since reopened. The Wilmington Police Department’s Traffic Unit is continuing to investigate.
Officials have not released the teens names or ages.
