WPD investigating serious pedestrian crash in Wilmington

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Wilmington Police Department is investigating a traffic collision that left a teenager with life-threatening injuries early Saturday morning.

According to officials, officers responded just before 5 a.m. to the intersection of Pine Grove Drive and Oleander Drive. Upon arrival, police located a 17-year-old pedestrian who had been struck by a vehicle.

The teen was transported to Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center for treatment of life-threatening injuries.

The WPD Traffic Unit is leading the investigation. Authorities say no charges have been filed at this time, and the circumstances surrounding the crash remain under review.
