WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The City of Wilmington Parks and Recreation is asking residents to help design a new mascot to represent its parks, programs, and community spaces.

Residents are being asked what best represents Wilmington’s parks and natural environment–with early ideas including an alligator, oak tree, Venus flytrap, pirate, and other locally inspired characters.

The goal is to create a mascot that reflects the spirit of the city’s recreation system while engaging residents of all ages.

Community members can submit ideas and vote for their favorite concept through the City of Wilmington’s official website.

The city says public feedback will help shape the final design of the mascot, which will be used to promote parks programming and community engagement initiatives across Wilmington.
