Road closed as firefighters battle brush fires in Brunswick County

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Multiple brush fires in the Longwood area of Brunswick County have shut down Hughes Smith Road near Longwood Road, according to the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office.

Emergency personnel are actively working the scene.

Drivers are asked to avoid the area if possible and use alternate routes to allow first responders and fire personnel room to operate safely.
