Southbound South Kerr Avenue to close temporarily for water line installation

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Cape Fear Public Utility Authority announced that a section of southbound South Kerr Avenue will temporarily close beginning Friday evening while crews install a new water line.

Starting at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 15, both southbound lanes of South Kerr Avenue will be closed between Market Street and Cinema Drive.

Northbound traffic will remain open and unaffected during the construction work.

Officials said signage will be posted to direct southbound drivers to detour around the closure using Cinema Drive.

The temporary closure is expected to remain in place until 5 a.m. on Monday, May 18.

Motorists traveling through the area are encouraged to plan ahead and use caution near construction crews and traffic changes.
