BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A new Brunswick County-based animal nonprofit has received a donated transport vehicle that leaders say will help expand rescue and foster efforts across southeastern North Carolina.

A donor who wished to remain anonymous donated a fully equipped animal transport van to Animal Ally Action Fund, a nonprofit organization based in Brunswick County.

The group’s treasurer, Jill Jones, said the vehicle will help transport animals safely and comfortably to adoption events and into foster care.

“The Triple A Fund is delighted to have a vehicle that will transport dogs and cats safely and comfortably to and from adoption fairs, even from county shelters when we’re bringing several animals into foster care while they await new forever homes,” Jones said.

Jones has owned Adam’s Folly, a boarding kennel in Bolivia, since 2009 and has operated a foster pet program at the facility for years. In October 2025, the foster program received its own nonprofit designation and became Animal Ally Action Fund.

The organization said the “used but immaculate” van includes nine stainless steel cages that can be divided as needed, with each cage area equipped with a dedicated air-conditioning vent.

The vehicle made its first trip on May 16, transporting several cats and dogs from Adam’s Folly to an adoption event at Southport Unleashed.

The organization said North Carolina consistently ranks among the top states nationally for the number of animals euthanized in county shelters.

“That’s a statistic everybody associated with the Folly and the Fund is working hard to overturn,” Jones said. “The mission of the Fund is to take action to prevent euthanasia, to reduce pet overpopulation, and to find or keep loving homes for dogs and cats in Southeastern N.C.”
