Thalian Hall announces June residency featuring immersive Hubblo Dome

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Thalian Hall Center for the Performing Arts will bring an immersive cinematic experience to downtown Wilmington this summer with a month-long residency featuring Québec’s Hubblo Dome.
The 30-foot immersive dome installation will take over Thalian Hall throughout June 2026, offering audiences a 360-degree viewing experience that organizers say combines cutting-edge technology with film, music and sensory storytelling.
The residency will feature four immersive programs with multiple daily showtimes, including a reimagined presentation of Pink Floyd’s iconic album “Dark Side of the Moon” in celebration of the record’s 50th anniversary.
Additional programming includes “Bébé Symphonique,” a sensory-focused symphony experience designed for infants ages 0 to 18 months and their caregivers, as well as two family-friendly double-features.
“Aurorae / One Day on Mars” will explore the northern lights and the surface of Mars, while “Close Encounters / Total Eclipse” combines wildlife encounters with the story of Kentucky, an insomniac chicken searching for sleep.
“This installation will serve as a preview to the types of programming that will be available in the Hippodrome on the other side of the Thalian Hall Transformation project,” said Shane Fernando, CEO of Thalian Hall, in a release announcing the residency. “We are proud to be one of the pioneers for immersive experience technology in the American South.”
Fernando also said the venue is excited to partner with Québec’s government to bring the Hubblo Dome to North Carolina for the first time.
