Wilmington man charged after police say stolen firearms were pawned

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A Wilmington man has been arrested in connection with the theft of two firearms, according to the Wilmington Police Department.

Police said Paul Richard Rogers, 48, was identified during an investigation after authorities discovered he had pawned the guns. Investigators say Rogers is prohibited from possessing firearms because he is a convicted felon.

On Monday, police said Rogers was found at a hotel on Market Street with assistance from the department’s Criminal Investigation Division. He was taken into custody by the Wilmington Police Department’s Gun Crimes Unit without incident.

Rogers has been charged with:

Felony breaking or entering
Larceny of a firearm
Obtaining property by false pretenses
Felony possession of a firearm by a felon

Rogers is being held at the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center without bond.
