More than 500 Duke Energy customers without power in New Hanover County

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — More than 500 Duke Energy customers were without power Thursday afternoon after multiple outages were reported shortly after 3 p.m.

According to Duke Energy’s outage map, 449 customers near Ogden were affected by an outage first reported at 3:02 p.m. The utility company says crews have been assigned to the outage, but the cause remains unknown at this time.

Another outage impacting 78 customers near Wilmington International Airport was first reported at 3:01 p.m. Duke Energy says that outage was caused by fallen trees or limbs damaging equipment.

Power for both outages is expected to be restored by 6:45 p.m., according to Duke Energy.
