Wilmington, NC (WWAY) — From music festivals to fierce drag shows and even a live production put on by community performers, there’s plenty of fun live events to attend the first weekend of June.

Kicking the weekend off, The Carolina Beach Music Fest starts Friday at 6:30 pm with an ’80s-themed live music show. You can show off your retro style while you enjoy the free event on the boardwalk. The festival continues into Saturday, when the music festival kicks into full gear on the beach with live performances. Gates open at 10 a.m., and music starts at 11 a.m. and continues until 4:30 p.m. Tickets are $35 online and $40 in person.

Also happening over the weekend at Greenfield Lake Amphitheater, Cape Fear Shakespeare, in association with the City of Wilmington, will kick off its summer season with performances of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Gates open at 6:30 p.m., and the play starts at 8 p.m. The shows are free to attend and will continue through the end of the month.

Finally, it’s Pride Month, and Hi-Wire Brewing will be showing off its spirit and support on Sunday with Wilmington Pridefest. The event will feature a vendor market, live music, and even a live drag show. Wilmington Pridefest kicks off at 2 p.m. and goes until 8 p.m. and is free to attend.

Whether you’re hitting the beach for a series of live performances, headed out for a night at the theater to support local performers, or even showing support at a drag performance, there’s plenty of live events to attend across the Cape Fear this weekend.
