Community gets first look at new Scotts Hill Novant Medical Center
WILMINGTON, N.C. (WWAY) — A new hospital is preparing to open in northern New Hanover County, and this weekend residents got an early look inside the facility.
Community members toured the new Scotts Hill Medical Center on Saturday, learning about the services it will provide when it officially opens later this month. The hospital will feature 66 licensed inpatient beds, eight operating rooms, and 14 observation rooms.
Visitors also had the opportunity to speak with healthcare professionals and learn more about Novant Health’s programs and services through informational exhibits.
Hospital President Grant Rush says the medical center was built to meet the needs of one of the region’s fastest-growing areas and will help bring healthcare closer to home for residents who currently travel long distances for treatment.
“We’re really about creating healthcare in your backyard. How do we bring healthcare to the communities? How do we have access for healthcare, so you don’t have to spend hours in the car trying to receive healthcare,” said Rush. “We want to be able to come there, have our physicians, and our community that lives there for you.”
Rush says the new facility will create more than 600 jobs, with many of those employees already living in the surrounding community.
