WILMINGTON, N.C. (WWAY)  — Final arguments are expected to continue Tuesday in the trial of Omonte Bell, one of two defendants charged in a 2021 double homicide.

Bell, and co-defendant Dyrell Green, are charged in the deaths of Koredreese Tyson and Briyanna Williams. Prosecutors allege the two were killed inside the home of Tru Colors Brewery Chief Operating Officer George Taylor III, in 2021.

State prosecutors spent much of Monday presenting their closing arguments, pointing to forensic and digital evidence that they say ties the defendants to the crime scene.

However, Green’s defense attorney argued the state has failed to directly connect his client to the killings. Addressing the jury, the attorney said there is “no DNA, no fingerprints, no phone forensics, no murder weapon, no eyewitness, and no confession” linking Green to the crime.

Court is scheduled to resume at 9 a.m. Tuesday, when final arguments are expected to continue before the case is eventually turned over to the jury for deliberations.
