CFPUA to hold community meeting on upcoming Furtado Drive water main project

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WWAY) — Cape Fear Public Utility Authority (CFPUA) is inviting residents to a community meeting this week to learn more about an upcoming water main construction project in the Porters Neck area.
The meeting will take place Wednesday, Oct. 21, from 4:30 to 6 p.m. in the cafeteria at Porters Neck Elementary School, located at 416 Edgewater Club Road.
Residents can stop by at any time during the meeting to speak with CFPUA staff, ask questions and learn about planned construction along Furtado Drive.
According to CFPUA, construction is expected to begin in mid-November and continue through January.
The project includes installing a 12-inch water main, along with public-side water service lines and meters for 19 homes on Furtado Drive.
The work is part of CFPUA’s larger Bayshore Water Main Interconnections Project, which aims to improve water connectivity throughout the area.
The broader project will also include additional water main connections along Market Street and the installation of a separate water main along Bayshore Drive.
CFPUA officials say a separate community meeting will be scheduled in November for residents affected by construction along Bayshore Drive.
Details about that meeting will be shared on CFPUA’s website, social media pages and directly with affected residents once plans are finalized.
