Port City F.C. women close out season with 5-0 victory

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Port City FC women’s team wrapped up its season Wednesday night with a strong performance in front of a supportive home crowd at the University of North Carolina Wilmington.

Port City FC defeated North Carolina Fusion 5-0 in the season finale, giving fans plenty to cheer about.

Midfielder Reagan Hamilton opened the scoring in the first half to give the home side an early advantage.

The offense picked up even more in the second half, with four additional goals over the final 45 minutes. Karina Peat scored twice, while Ellis Kelly added another goal.

The third goal came from Maris Jennings, who finished off a play created by Peat and left back Evie Baker.

After the match, Jennings said the summer season provides valuable experience as she prepares for her collegiate season at Miami University (OH).

“It definitely makes you learn to play with different people on the spot. I think all of our skill sets really blend together to make us successful,” Jennings said.

While the women’s season has come to an end, the Port City FC men’s team still has several matches remaining. Their next home game is scheduled for Saturday, June 27, at UNCW.
