Onslow County man faces felony charges in Wilmington domestic violence case

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Wilmington Police Department has arrested a man in connection with a domestic violence incident that occurred earlier this month at a home on Talon Court.
Police said officers arrested 26-year-old Isaac Ruiz on Wednesday, June 24, following a two-week investigation into the June 15 assault. Ruiz is an active-duty marine, stationed at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune. According to arrest warrants, he has no prior convictions.
According to investigators, detectives with the Wilmington Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division worked alongside the New Hanover County District Attorney’s Office to investigate the case. Police said the investigation included conducting interviews, analyzing evidence, reviewing surveillance footage and following up on tips from the public.
Ruiz has been charged with:
- Assault by Strangulation
- Assault Inflicting Serious Bodily Injury
- First-Degree Burglary
Police said Ruiz is being held at the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office Detention Facility under a $1 million secured bond. His first court appearance is scheduled for July 16, 2026.
