Behind the Badge: WPD Invites Community to Demo Day

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Wilmington Police Department is inviting the public and members of the media to get a behind-the-scenes look at its specialized equipment, technology, and police units during its upcoming Demo Day.
The event will take place on Tuesday, July 7, at 10 a.m. at Wilmington Police Department Headquarters, located at 615 Bess Street.
Attendees will have the opportunity to watch demonstrations of specialized police equipment and technology, learn how officers use various tools during routine operations and emergency incidents, and speak with officers and experts from several WPD units.
The event will also feature the department’s Mounted Unit and K9 Unit, with opportunities for photos and video of the demonstrations.
According to the department, Demo Day is designed to give the community a better understanding of the resources, training, and capabilities that support the department’s mission of protecting and serving Wilmington.
