Fire damages home in Surf City, cause under investigation
SURF CITY, NC (WWAY) — A fire that damaged a home in Surf City late Saturday night remains under investigation, according to town officials.
The fire broke out around 11 p.m. at a home in the 2200 block of South Shore Drive.
As of about 6 pm Sunday, fire crews remained at the scene extinguishing hotspots inside the building, the town said.
The fire caused significant structural damage, prompting officials to close the 2300 block of South Shore Drive to all vehicle traffic while the building was stabilized.
No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
