Wilmington journalist and true crime podcaster discusses debut book on North Carolina cold cases

Wilmington, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington journalist, true crime podcaster and cold case investigator Amanda Denise joined Jessica Keisling in the WWAY studio Wednesday to discuss the release her debut book focusing on unsolved homicides and missing persons cases across North Carolina.
In an interview with WWAY, Denise said she hopes to bring awareness to unresolved criminal cases through Cold and Untold.
The book examines cold cases through research, interviews with victims’ families and conversations with investigators. It explores the lasting impact these cases have on families and communities while examining the role media coverage, public engagement and advocacy can play in generating new leads.
Denise has worked as a television news reporter and journalist in North Carolina and currently serves as a civilian cold case investigator with the Kinston Police Department, where she assists in reviewing unresolved case files. She also serves on the board of directors for the North Carolina Crime Stoppers Association.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and criminology and a master’s degree in new media journalism.
Denise’s work has included collaboration with law enforcement agencies, advocacy organizations and families of victims involved in unresolved cases. She previously received the Citizens Commendation Award for her work supporting cold case investigations.
Cold and Untold: Unresolved Stories of the Vanished and Murdered in North Carolina, published by Victorious You Press, will release later this month.
