NC DEQ to offer free training for water infrastructure funding applicants

RALEIGH, NC (WWAY) — The North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality’s Division of Water Infrastructure will hold free training sessions across the state next month to help communities apply for Fall 2026 water infrastructure funding.
The sessions will take place Aug. 4-12 in Hickory, Asheville, Durham and Kinston, with a virtual option available Aug. 10. All sessions will cover the same information, including funding programs, application requirements and timelines.
The funding cycle includes low-interest loans and grants for drinking water and wastewater projects, including programs that address PFAS contamination and lead service line replacement.
Applications for Fall 2026 funding are due by 5 p.m. on Sept. 30.
Registration is free, and the Division encourages potential applicants to attend. A recording of the virtual session will also be posted on the Division’s website.
