COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A Fayetteville woman is facing charges after a crash in Columbus County killed a mother and her 11-year-old daughter Friday morning.

The crash happened around 10:44 a.m. at the intersection of Rough and Ready Road and Hinsons Crossroads Road.

According to the North Carolina Highway Patrol, 68-year-old Patricia Jackson was driving a 2022 Toyota passenger car south on Hinsons Crossroads Road when she failed to stop at a stop sign and struck another vehicle.

The other vehicle was a 2012 Kia driven by 29-year-old Amanda Green of Fair Bluff. Green’s 11-year-old daughter was also inside the vehicle.

Troopers say both Green and her daughter died at the scene.

She has been charged with two counts of misdemeanor death by vehicle, reckless driving, and failure to stop at a stop sign.

The Highway Patrol says there were no signs of impairment involved in the crash.
