Registration lottery opens for Wilmington Municipal Golf Course Centennial Tournament

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WWAY) — Golfers have a chance to be part of a historic celebration as the City of Wilmington marks the 100th anniversary of the Donald Ross Municipal Golf Course with a Centennial Tournament this fall.
The tournament is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 19, at 11:30 a.m. and is open to golfers of all skill levels. Participants will enjoy a round of golf along with food, music, prizes, a commemorative tee gift and other festivities celebrating the course’s centennial.
Players must register individually. Pro shop staff will create pairings to help ensure balanced teams.
Because space is limited, registration will remain open through July 31, with participants selected through a random lottery drawing on Aug. 3.
Golfers selected in the drawing will receive an email during the week of Aug. 3 with instructions on how to confirm their spot. Selected participants must RSVP and pay the $100 registration fee by Aug. 14 to secure their place in the tournament.
Known locally as “The Muni,” the Donald Ross Municipal Golf Course first opened in 1926 and is one of Wilmington’s most historic public golf courses. The course underwent a major restoration in recent years to preserve its original Donald Ross design while modernizing playing conditions.
