Oak Island, NC (WWAY) — Drivers traveling along N.C. 211 in Brunswick County should expect a new traffic pattern beginning this week as part of an ongoing North Carolina Department of Transportation road improvement project.

According to the N.C. Department of Transportation, weather permitting, traffic will shift overnight on July 16, between N.C. 133 (Long Beach Road) and Woodedge Way.

Under the new traffic pattern, all traffic will be moved onto the newly constructed future westbound lanes of N.C. 211.

Westbound drivers will use a new ramp and traffic signal to access N.C. 906, also known as Midway Road and Middleton Boulevard. Eastbound traffic will continue using the existing signal at N.C. 906.

The Regency Crossing entrance to St. James will close for approximately 30 days following the traffic shift. Drivers traveling within St. James will be directed to use the St. James Drive entrance during the closure.

NCDOT also plans to provide signed temporary access points for homes and businesses south of the highway between Pinetop Drive and Pine Plantation Parkway, as well as near West Trace Drive and N.C. 133.

Motorists are encouraged to use caution while traveling through the work zone and check DriveNC for real-time traffic updates.

NCDOT says rain or thunderstorms could delay the scheduled traffic shift.
