WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Drivers traveling along Wrightsville Avenue Wednesday night should expect traffic changes as crews work to repair a broken water valve.

Beginning at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 22, a portion of the westbound lane in the 3300 block of Wrightsville Avenue, between Bryan Avenue and Wilshire Boulevard, will be closed while repair work is underway.

During the repair, westbound traffic will be shifted into the center turning lane to allow crews to safely replace the damaged valve.

Eastbound traffic will remain unaffected throughout the project.

The temporary lane shift is expected to last for approximately eight hours, with normal traffic patterns resuming once the work is completed.

Motorists are encouraged to slow down, use caution when traveling through the work zone, and allow extra travel time if driving through the area Wednesday evening.
