Wilmington Sharks move one win from advancing after Game 1 victory over Morehead City Marlins

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Wilmington Sharks are one win away from advancing after defeating the Morehead City Marlins in Game 1 of their best-of-three playoff series Tuesday night.

The Sharks won 9-8, after overcoming an early five run deficit.

The series represents the Eastern Conference Finals for the Coastal Plains League, with the Sharks looking to take back the Pettit Cup.

The game featured plenty of offense, with the two teams combining for 14 runs over the first three innings.

Morehead City jumped out to an early lead before the home team responded. Sharks first baseman Blake Carter sparked the comeback with a home run over the left-field fence, helping shift the momentum.

The Sharks completed the rally and held on for the Game 1 victory.

The series now moves to Morehead City for Game 2, which is scheduled for Wednesday night.
