League of Women Voters of Lower Cape Fear to participate in nationwide voting rights day of action
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The League of Women Voters of Lower Cape Fear will participate in the nationwide “Unite & Rise for Voting Rights” Day of Action on Saturday, Aug. 8, joining other chapters and partner organizations across the country in voter education and civic engagement efforts.
The event marks the anniversary of the Voting Rights Act of 1965 and is intended to encourage voter participation ahead of the 2026 elections.
Locally, members will distribute nonpartisan voter information and engage with residents in Brunswick, New Hanover and Pender counties. Volunteers will provide information about voter registration, election dates and polling locations while discussing the importance of civic participation.
As part of the day’s activities, the organization is also launching a ‘Frog Coloring and Naming Contest’ for children and families. The contest encourages participants to color and name the league’s frog mascots, with winning entries eligible to be featured on the organization’s website and social media pages. Submissions will be accepted through Oct. 30.
The League says the Day of Action is part of its broader effort to promote voter education and participation nationwide.
