Nash County EMS Director Dale Griffin dies in Carteret County drowning, officials say
NASH COUNTY, NC (WCTI) — Nash County officials are mourning the loss of Emergency Medical Services Director Dale Griffin after authorities say he drowned in Carteret County near Shackleford Banks.
Beaufort firefighters were the first emergency crews to arrive on scene. They say they pulled Griffin from the water and immediately began resuscitation efforts, with assistance from Harkers Island crews.
Despite their efforts, Griffin was pronounced dead a short time later.
