Pender County, NC (WWAY) — The Pender County Sheriff’s Office is asking local property owners to consider allowing its K-9 Unit to use their properties for training exercises.

The sheriff’s office is looking for locations that can provide K-9 teams with opportunities to train in settings similar to those deputies could encounter while responding to calls.

According to information released by the sheriff’s office, the unit is particularly interested in multistory buildings, commercial buildings and large complexes.

The department said using different types of properties would allow K-9 deputies and their dogs to practice in a variety of environments and further develop skills used in the field.

Property owners interested in allowing the sheriff’s office to use their property for training can contact the Pender County Sheriff’s Office at 910-259-1212 or email JDORTON@PENDERSHERIFF.COM.
