Local LEGO Artists to be featured at next month’s LEGO Brick Convention in Wilmington

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Local LEGO artists from the Cape Fear will have the chance to showcase their creations during the LEGO Brick Convention, set for Sept. 12-13 at the Wilmington Convention Center.

Their creations include cities, trains, robots, mosaics, spaceships and other large-scale LEGO builds.

One of the featured displays is a massive LEGO city complete with moving LEGO trains.

Local LEGO artists have displayed their creations at events across North Carolina and beyond, with some earning awards for their work.

In addition to the displays, the convention will include a Star Wars-themed area featuring LEGO creations, brick pits with thousands of LEGO bricks, professional LEGO artist meet-and-greets and vendors selling LEGO merchandise, including retired and hard-to-find sets.

A portion of the event’s proceeds will benefit Build Smiles Foundation, an all-volunteer nonprofit that provides new LEGO sets to children around the world during the holidays.

Tickets are $14.99 for either Saturday, Sept. 12, or Sunday, Sept. 13. Tickets purchased at the door will cost $20, if the event has not sold out.

Organizers recommend purchasing tickets in advance.
