WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The leaders of UNCW’s men’s and women’s basketball programs will be featured speakers at the next Greater Wilmington Sports Hall of Fame Speakers Luncheon.
Men’s basketball coach Takayo Siddle and women’s basketball coach Nicole Woods will appear at the luncheon on Friday, September 11, at Pine Valley Country Club in Wilmington.
The event is scheduled for 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Tickets are $25 and can be purchased by contacting Greater Wilmington Sports Hall of Fame chair Louise McColl at louisemccoll18@gmail.com or 910-233-0999. The deadline to purchase tickets is September 9.
Siddle is entering his seventh season leading the Seahawks. During his tenure, UNCW has recorded five consecutive 20-win seasons, a first in program history.
The Seahawks won the 2025-26 Coastal Athletic Association regular-season championship, the program’s fourth outright title and 10th overall. UNCW also earned an automatic berth in the 2026 National Invitation Tournament.
Siddle has compiled a 133-54 record at UNCW, including 126 wins over the past five seasons. He has also led the Seahawks to three 27-win seasons and helped the program return to the NCAA Tournament in 2025 for the first time in eight years.
Siddle was named CAA Coach of the Year for the second time following the 2025-26 season.
Woods is entering her fourth season as head coach of the UNCW women’s basketball program.
Under Woods, the Seahawks made progress during the 2024-25 season, winning 14 games, nine more than the previous season. UNCW also won eight CAA games and advanced to the second round of the conference tournament.
Last season, the Seahawks advanced in the CAA Tournament for the first time since the 2020-21 season.
Woods has also brought several notable recruits and transfers to the program, including former CAA Sixth Player of the Year Jania Hall and UNC Chapel Hill transfer Ali Zelaya, who earned CAA Defensive Player of the Year honors.
The luncheon is the second installment of the Greater Wilmington Sports Hall of Fame’s Speakers Luncheon Series.
ESPN college basketball analyst Debbie Antonelli was the inaugural speaker at the series’ first luncheon on July 24.
