North Brunswick shuts out South Brunswick 31-0 in county rivalry

LELAND, N.C. (WWAY) — North Brunswick continued its recent success against county rival South Brunswick on Thursday night, shutting out the Cougars 31-0.

The Scorpions entered the matchup having held the upper hand in the rivalry for several years, and North Brunswick remained in control throughout the game.

In the third quarter, South Brunswick freshman quarterback Kaelum Grainger went to the air, but North Brunswick’s MJ Smith stepped in front of the pass for an interception. Smith returned the pick all the way to the end zone for a Scorpions touchdown.

North Brunswick added another score not long after when Jaiden Cokeley-Pridgenn took the handoff and powered his way into the end zone.

The Scorpions went on to finish off the 31-0 shutout victory over the Cougars.
