Novant Health opens new walk-in care location in New Hanover County

MYRTLE GROVE, NC (WWAY) — Novant Health opened its newest walk-in care location in New Hanover County on Wednesday.

Novant Health Express Care is now open in Myrtle Grove at 5145 S. College Road. The clinic will be open seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The clinic treats minor wounds and injuries, as well as illnesses such as the flu, strep throat and ear infections.

Family nurse practitioner Rand Pennington said the clinic is designed to fill the gap for patients who need medical care but may not be able to see their primary care provider the same day or need treatment that does not require an emergency department visit.

“There’s a gap that we cover that patients may have between primary care or needing to go to the emergency department,” Pennington said. “Patients aren’t always able to get with a doctor the same day, so that’s really what we fill.”

Pennington said the location can also be a convenient option for tourists visiting the area who need medical care while away from home.

The new location adds another option for people seeking treatment for non-life-threatening medical needs without going to an emergency department.
