North Myrtle Beach edges West Brunswick 42-41 in Overtime Thriller

SHALLOTTE, NC (WWAY) — West Brunswick and North Myrtle Beach battled into overtime Friday night, with the Chiefs escaping with a 42-41 victory.
West Brunswick was looking to bounce back after last week’s loss to Whiteville.
After an early touchdown by the Trojans, North Myrtle Beach’s Reo Stevenson broke away for a touchdown, on a kickoff return, putting the Chiefs ahead 14-6.
West Brunswick answered with a touchdown from Motoshi Lance to cut the deficit to one point.
Later in the quarter, Josiah Barton connected with Eden Romero on a touchdown pass while on the move, giving the Trojans their first lead of the game at 21-20.
North Myrtle Beach responded, with quarterback Evan Barrett throwing a touchdown pass to Jaden Chestnut to regain the lead.
The game remained close throughout the rest of the night and eventually went to overtime.
The Chiefs held on for the 42-41 win, dropping West Brunswick to 1-2 on the season.
