Tabor City man charged with kidnapping, felonious restraint and other offenses

COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A Tabor City man is facing multiple felony charges, including second-degree kidnapping and felonious restraint, following his arrest Sept. 5, according to Columbus County court records.

Daniel Lee Harris, 34, was arrested by the Tabor City Police Department and charged with second-degree kidnapping, felonious restraint, larceny after breaking and entering, misdemeanor domestic violence and misuse of the 911 system.

According to a magistrate’s order, Harris is accused of unlawfully confining a woman without her consent and for the purpose of terrorizing her.

Court documents allege Harris then restrained the woman and moved her from a home in Tabor City in a vehicle.

He is also accused of taking a kitchen knife valued at $7 and threatening the woman with the knife. Court records state the alleged domestic violence offense involved a former or recent dating relationship.

Harris was also charged with misuse of the 911 system. His booking records show separate failure-to-appear charges related to misdemeanors, two of which were listed as dropped and one as time served.

Harris was scheduled to appear in Columbus County District Court on Sept. 8. Court records indicate he waived his right to a probable cause hearing with the consent of his attorney.

The kidnapping charge is listed as having no bond in the booking record, while a $10,000 surety bond is listed for the misuse of 911 charge.
