Leland police charge two teens after shots fired at Bojangles

LELAND, NC (WWAY) — Two teens have been charged following an investigation into shots fired Monday at a Bojangles restaurant in Leland.

The Leland Police Department said the incident happened around 7:30 p.m. Sept. 7 at the Bojangles located at 109 Village Road.

John Reid III, 18, and Scott Griffin, 19, were each charged with a town ordinance violation for discharging a firearm within town limits.

According to police, investigators determined both Griffin and Reid negligently discharged a firearm within Leland town limits.

Police said Reid suffered an accidental, self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was taken by ambulance for treatment and has since been released. His injury was considered non-life-threatening.

The investigation has resulted in charges against both individuals.
