Border Belt Drug Task Force investigation leads to three arrests in Lumberton

LUMBERTON, NC (WWAY) — Three people were arrested after the Border Belt Drug Task Force executed search warrants at two locations in Lumberton, according to authorities.

The task force executed search warrants Thursday, Sept. 24, at 13805 Highway 41 North and 148 Beth Drive.

Investigators said they seized cocaine, marijuana, U.S. currency, firearms and drug paraphernalia during the searches.

Shannon L. Clark was charged with trafficking in cocaine, conspiracy to sell cocaine, two counts of possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver cocaine, possession with intent to sell or deliver marijuana, two counts of maintaining a dwelling for controlled substances, two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana paraphernalia.

Clark received no bond.

Sarah R. Smith was charged with conspiracy to sell cocaine, possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver cocaine, possession with intent to sell or deliver marijuana, maintaining a dwelling for controlled substances, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana paraphernalia.

Smith received a $50,000 bond.

Venus Jacobs was charged with felony possession of cocaine and two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia.

Jacobs received a $5,000 bond.

The Border Belt Drug Task Force consists of investigators from the Columbus, Robeson and Bladen county sheriff’s offices and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation.

The task force was created in July to increase investigations and prosecutions across southeastern North Carolina.
