Wilmington, NC (WWAY) — From fall festivals and Halloween markets to pet adoption events and cultural celebrations, several family-friendly activities are scheduled across the Cape Fear region this weekend.

Belville Elementary School will host a fall festival from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9.

The event will feature games, food, drinks, vendors and sweet treats. Admission is $2 per person, with free entry for children ages 4 and younger. Tickets can be purchased in advance or at the event.

The sixth annual Pets in the Park event will take place at Carolina Beach Lake Park on Saturday, Oct. 10 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The event will feature local pet-related businesses, service providers, artists, animal nonprofits and adoption organizations.

WWAY’s Jeff Rivenbark will serve as emcee.

Admission is $5, while children younger than 10 can attend for free. The Pleasure Island Chamber of Commerce donates a portion of the admission proceeds to local animal rescue organizations each year.

The Scare Faire and Halloween Market will also take place Saturday at the Elks Lodge in Wilmington from 2 to 8 p.m.

The family-friendly market will feature vendors selling candles, crystals, jewelry, original artwork and other items. Indoor trick-or-treating will also be available.

Admission is $5, with free entry for children ages 12 and younger.

In Leland, the Brunswick County Intercultural Festival will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.

The festival will feature performances, cultural displays, food and children’s activities. Its International Village will include displays representing countries and cultures from around the world.

Admission is free and open to the public.

The Junior League of Wilmington will host its 18th annual Touch-A-Truck event on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at The Pointe at Barclay.

Families will have an opportunity to explore trucks, cars and construction equipment.

The final hour of the event will be free of horns and flashing lights to accommodate visitors with sensory sensitivities.

Tickets will be available online and at the event. Proceeds will support the Junior League’s community programs.

Beauty and Bloom will also host its second annual Pumpkins and Purrs event Sunday from noon to 4 p.m.

The event will feature adoptable cats and kittens, a pumpkin patch, local vendors and food.

All proceeds will benefit All 4 Cats, a local nonprofit animal rescue organization.
