BOLIVIA, NC (WWAY) — Six Brunswick County schools have been recognized among the top schools in North Carolina for academic growth during the 2025-26 school year, including two that ranked in the top 5% statewide.

According to Brunswick County Schools, Union Elementary School and Leland Middle School earned spots among the top 5% of schools statewide for academic growth.

Waccamaw School ranked in the top 20%, while South Brunswick High School, Town Creek Middle School and Brunswick County Early College High School were recognized among the top 50%.

Academic growth measures how much progress students make over the course of a school year compared to expected performance.

The latest recognition follows previously announced academic achievements across the district, with 14 of its 20 schools meeting or exceeding expected academic growth during the 2025-26 school year.

Additionally, 18 of the district’s 20 schools improved their overall School Performance Grades scores.

District officials say the results reflect the continued dedication of students, teachers, staff and school leadership.

Brunswick County Schools is working toward a strategic goal of having 100% of its schools meet or exceed expected academic growth by 2029.
