Surf City road maintenance project to bring lane closures through Oct. 30

SURF CITY, NC (WWAY) — Drivers in Surf City should expect intermittent lane closures as a road maintenance project gets underway Friday, Oct. 23.
The Town of Surf City, in partnership with the North Carolina Department of Transportation, is conducting a microsurfacing project on portions of the town’s Canal Streets.
According to town officials, work will take place along First through Seventh streets between Canal Street and North New River Drive.
The project is expected to continue through Friday, Oct. 30, weather permitting.
Residents and motorists should expect intermittent lane closures throughout the project, although access to Canal Street and Broadway Street will remain open.
Town officials are asking drivers to use caution when traveling through the affected areas and watch for construction crews and equipment.
The microsurfacing project is part of ongoing efforts to maintain and improve local roadways.
