BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — During the North Brunswick Chamber of Commerce Power Connections meeting in Leland, members of the John E. Jacobs American Legion Post 68 and Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) presented awards for local businesses supporting veterans in the workforce.

The ESGR is a Department of Defense organization established in 1972 that promotes cooperation and understanding between service members and their civilian employers and helps resolve conflicts arising from an employee’s military commitment.

To recognize employers who support their Guard and Reserve employees, ESGR presents a series of awards, including the Patriotic Employer Award.

During the meeting, Patriot Roofing & Exteriors (PR&E) received an award for supporting veterans in its workforce and for assisting veterans in need of roofing in the Greater Wilmington area.

The Wilmington-based, female-owned general contractor serves coastal North Carolina communities and provides roofing replacements and repairs, gutters, siding, windows, and doors.

In addition, reflecting its commitment to the veteran community, the company helps veterans in need of roofing and exterior assistance. In doing so, it typically partners with Habitat for Humanity to identify vetted needs and with Owens Corning, which provides roofing materials, including shingles.

The Patriotic Employer award certificate and lapel pin were presented to Stephanie Bolton, Owner of PR&E, and Cassandra Barba, Vice President of Sales and Marketing.

Company personnel present to witness the presentation included Bill Bolton, Vice President of Operations; Anna La Rue, Project Manager and 4-year Air Force veteran; Josiah Light, Project Specialist and 4-year USMC veteran; and Logan Phelps.

Post 68 Commander Tom Powers assisted in the presentation ceremony.

In addition, ESGR representatives and members of the State of North Carolina Chair for the American Legion’s Be The One (BTO) suicide awareness and prevention program presented each PR&E individual with a BTO wristband and a challenge coin.
