NC State fraternity house searched amid investigation into hazing allegations

RALEIGH, NC (WTVD) — There are new details about the investigation into hazing allegations made against a North Carolina State University (NCSU) fraternity back on Tuesday, October 27.
The Sigma Nu fraternity is currently on interim suspension while the university investigates the allegations under the university’s internal student code of conduct, a spokesperson confirmed.
Additionally, the NCSU campus police are also conducting a separate criminal investigation.
The school sent this statement about the law enforcement activity.
“The NC State University Police Department, with assistance from partner law enforcement agencies, executed a search warrant at the Sigma Nu fraternity house as part of an ongoing criminal investigation. To preserve the integrity of the investigation, we are unable to provide further comments at this time. NC State does not tolerate hazing. The safety and well-being of our students is of the utmost importance.”
On Wednesday, a message posted outside the fraternity house garnered attention as the chapter remains under an interim suspension during a hazing investigation, with prevention experts saying incidents like these highlight the need for transparency and reporting resources on college campuses.
The words “Relax Pal” were displayed on a white sheet outside the Sigma Nu Beta Tau chapter house and was later removed.
It remains unclear whether it was related to the ongoing criminal hazing investigation involving the chapter.
The investigation remains ongoing.
