ROCKY POINT, NC (WWAY) — The Pender Patriots came out strong Friday night, dominating the Heide Trask Titans 58-14 in a rivalry matchup in Rocky Point.

Pender wasted little time getting on the scoreboard. Malcolm Baldwin broke through several defenders for a big run, setting the tone for the Patriots’ offense.

Senior Kyleik Cherry followed with a touchdown run, putting Pender ahead early.

The Patriots also made their presence felt on defense. Just seconds into Heide Trask’s possession, Pender defenders forced a fumble and recovered the ball, giving the Patriots another opportunity to score.

Senior Javin Moore capitalized on the turnover with a touchdown catch in the end zone, extending Pender’s lead.

The Titans managed to get on the scoreboard in the second quarter when junior Gabe Van Vliet rushed toward the end zone for a touchdown.

However, Heide Trask could not overcome Pender’s early momentum. The Patriots went on to secure a 58-14 victory over the Titans.
